GTA5 Error Codes

To Err is Human, to forgive divine.

It's normal to have errors when modding and the blame is always on the user, so forgive yourself. When GTA5 crashes, and it will, you may or may not get an error message, possibly with an error code. These codes aren't often useful and often the advice from Rockstar is to reboot the game or do a verify integrity. Nothing specific.

Common errors include:

ERR Fil Pack 3

ERR_STR_FAILURE_3

ERR_GEN_ZLIB_2

ERR_MEM_EMBEDDEDALLOC_ALLOC

In the case of that last one, you'll get a message like this from Rockstar:

Failed zlib call. Please reboot, verify the game data, or reinstall the game. For more information, please visit: http://rsg.ms/verify.

Beware of YTMs (YouTube Morons) who tell you to replace your Update.rpf. That might fix your problem but it's a shutgun approach, like throw the baby out with the bathwater. Instead think of the last mod you installed - it is likely to be what broke your game - a bad script, a high polygon model, or perhaps a faulty edit you made on a dlc.rpf.
